Common questions
How do I set the app up?
On first launch the app shows a QR code. Scan it with your phone (or type the address into any computer on the same network) to open the built-in configuration webpage, where you enter your Home Assistant address and a long-lived access token, then lay out your dashboard by dragging entities onto screens.
You can come back to it any time from Settings, then Edit configuration.
Which devices does it run on?
Any iPad, iPhone or iPod touch on iOS 15 or later. The app is deliberately optimised and lightweight so it runs really well on old hardware.
Can I try it without a Home Assistant server?
Yes. Tap "Explore the demo" on the welcome screen and every tab fills with sample data, so you can explore the whole app before pointing it at a real server.
The kiosk says it can't reach Home Assistant
Check the base URL (including http or https and the port, usually 8123), and that you pasted the full access token. If the device sits on a different network to your server, use your remote URL - a Nabu Casa or reverse-proxy address - instead of the local one.
On iOS 15 and later, also allow the app local network access in the iOS Settings app.
How do I keep it locked to the app?
Use iOS Guided Access (Settings, then Accessibility, then Guided Access), or supervise the device and enable Single App Mode - the in-app kiosk controls can then lock and unlock it. A PIN in the app's settings stops guests wandering into the configuration. Alternatively, Mobile Device Management is a great choice.
